As one of the original Japanese styles developed first in Okinawa and later moving to mainland Japan, Japanese Goju Ryu is reflective of developing students to be fully capable of defending themselves should the need arise. With a concentration on self defense, this style of Karate lends itself well to all ages from Adults down to Children. Whether there is a need for greater physical conditioning and stamina, or a need for a more balanced healthy lifestyle, the Mannford Institute of Karate provides training that allows the student to develop individually. Self confidence, self motivation, and self discipline are all benefits in the journey of learning Karate!Starting ClassThe Mannford Institute of Karate does not require contracts, rather students can simply go "month-to-month". All that is required to get started is the initial New Student paperwork for the school as well as the Mannford Activity Center. Students are not required to have a Gi (Uniform) to begin and actually may attend without one up to their first test. Suitable exercise or work-out clothing is acceptable. Students who begin Karate are considered White Belts (Rank - 10th KYU) and will have individualized instruction for the first few classes to insure the basics are mastered. Students should be at least 5 years of age (individual exception can be granted based on the student) through Adults of any age. The physical effort to begin Karate is very low impact, yet over the course of time this low impact exercise will be very aerobic. Individual students with any special needs can be accommodated.
